What does the Ukulele programme teach?
Ukulele learning is light, joyful and approachable. The syllabus covers:
- Introduction to ukulele types and parts
- Holding the ukulele and basic tuning practice
- Correct finger placement and hand coordination
- Foundational chords and chord transitions
- Strumming patterns and finger-style technique
- Accompanying Hindi and English songs
- Rhythm and taal exercises
- Group play and stage performance experience
Are certificates provided?
Yes. Students of the Standard and Premium ukulele courses receive an academy certificate after 6 months of learning. The Basic course is a short 3-month foundation course and does not include a certificate.
When does ukulele admission open?
Ukulele admissions remain open throughout the year. You may register at the Sigra or Lanka branch. Calling 7565050505 to book a visit time before coming makes things easier.
Who teaches the ukulele classes?
Ukulele classes are conducted by skilled instructors under the guidance of Dr. Anurag Mishra (PhD, BHU). The team is also well-trained in other Western string instruments.
What is the right age for children to learn ukulele?
Children above 5 years can pick up the ukulele easily. Being a light and compact instrument, the ukulele is considered one of the most child-friendly options.
Can adults realistically learn the ukulele?
Yes — the ukulele is an excellent choice for adults too, since it is easy and fun to learn. Many of our adult learners between 40 and 60 are happily practising the ukulele.
How fast can one learn to play the ukulele?
The ukulele is one of the quickest instruments to pick up. Most learners can play basic songs in 3 months, reach a good level by 6 months, and become stage-ready within a year.
How many days a week are classes, and can I choose my batch timing?
All ukulele batches run 3 days a week, 60 minutes per class. You can choose any available morning, afternoon or evening slot at Sigra or Lanka, subject to seats. The full schedule is on our Timings page.
What is the fee structure and how do I pay?
The fee depends on the level you choose — Basic, Standard or Premium. You can pay month by month, or in advance for 3 or 6 months at a lower monthly rate (the 3-month Basic course is offered monthly or for 3 months). A one-time registration fee applies. What opportunities open up after learning ukulele?
Trained ukulele players can build careers as YouTube creators, social-media artists, band members, studio session players, music teachers and stage performers.
I want to become a professional ukulele player — is that coaching available?
Yes — long-term professional ukulele coaching is offered, covering advanced technique, music theory, stage exposure and recording fundamentals.
Is personal mentorship available?
Yes. The Standard course includes one one-to-one mentor class every month, and the Premium course includes three. In Premium, missed classes are also carried forward to the next month.
Do students get access to the student portal?
Yes — every plan includes the Aalaap student portal for the period you have paid for: your course plan and lesson videos, daily quiz, riyaz tools, notations and your progress report.
Can I visit the academy before enrolling?
You are welcome to visit either branch and speak with our faculty before you enrol. Please call 7565050505 to book a convenient time.
Are Bollywood songs included in ukulele training?
Yes — Hindi film songs are taught along with English pop numbers, devotional pieces and folk tunes, so learners can play across the styles they enjoy most.
Do ukulele students get to perform on stage?
Yes — ukulele students perform regularly at the Sunday Suno-Sunao stage, the annual Aarohi event and other cultural programmes throughout the year.
Is hostel facility available for outstation ukulele students?
Aalaap does not run a hostel of its own. Students from other cities usually stay in nearby PGs, rented rooms or private hostels close to our branches.
