What does the vocal training programme include?
The programme takes you from voice basics to confident stage performance. Core areas include:

Are certificates provided?
Yes. Students of the Standard and Premium courses receive an academy certificate after 6 months of learning. The Basic course is a short 3-month foundation course and does not include a certificate.
When can I join the vocal course?
Admissions are open all year round, at both our Sigra and Lanka branches. We recommend calling 7565050505 to book a visit time before you come.
Who leads the vocal classes?
Vocal training at Aalaap is led by Dr. Anurag Mishra (PhD in Music, Banaras Hindu University), who has guided the musical journeys of hundreds of students.
What is the right age for children to start vocal lessons?
Children aged 5 and above can join. Younger learners begin with simple exercises, swar recognition and fun songs. We also run a Children Special plan in which each child moves at their own pace.
Can adults over 45 learn singing?
Absolutely. The voice can be trained at any age, and many of our adult students between 40 and 65 are enjoying their vocal journey at a comfortable pace.
How many days a week are classes, and can I choose my batch timing?
All vocal batches run 3 days a week, 60 minutes per class. You can choose any available morning, afternoon or evening slot at Sigra or Lanka, subject to seats. The full schedule is on our Timings page.
What is the fee structure and how do I pay?
The fee depends on the level you choose — Basic, Standard or Premium. You can pay month by month, or in advance for 3 or 6 months at a lower monthly rate (the 3-month Basic course is offered monthly or for 3 months). A one-time registration fee applies. How long does it take to see progress?
It depends on regular attendance and daily riyaz. Most learners sing simple songs with steady sur within the first few months, reach an intermediate level in about a year, and grow into classical depth over two to three years.
Is personal mentorship available?
Yes. The Standard course includes one one-to-one mentor class every month, and the Premium course includes three. In Premium, missed classes are also carried forward to the next month.
Do students get access to the student portal?
Yes — every plan includes the Aalaap student portal for the period you have paid for: your course plan and lesson videos, daily quiz, riyaz tools, notations and your progress report.
Are bhajans, ghazals and Bollywood songs also taught?
Yes. Along with the classical foundation, students learn bhajans, ghazals, thumri, hori, kajri and Hindi film songs, so every learner can pursue their favourite style.
Do learners get a chance to perform on stage?
Yes. Students perform regularly at our Sunday Suno-Sunao stage, the annual Aarohi event and other cultural programmes, which steadily builds stage confidence.
Are online vocal classes available?
Yes. You can learn through live online vocal classes on video call, with the same syllabus and teachers. See Online Vocal Classes.

What career options open up after vocal training?
Trained vocalists can move into stage performance, playback singing, vocal teaching, voice-over work, reality-show participation or academic study in music.
Is accommodation available for students from other cities?
Aalaap does not run its own hostel. Outstation students usually arrange a PG, rented room or private hostel near our branches.
