These terms govern the use of our website, our student portal, and every class, course or product you buy from us.
Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before enrolling in a course, using the student portal, or placing an order. By doing any of these, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. Who We Are
Aalaap Music Academy ("Aalaap", "we", "us", "our") is a music education institution based in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, registered with the Government of India as an MSME under UDYAM-UP-75-0082727. "Aalaap Music Academy" is a registered trademark (No. 3517600). We operate from two branches — Sigra (Head Office) and Lanka — and deliver online classes to students across India and abroad.
These terms apply to www.aalaapmusic.com, all its sub-pages, the Aalaap student portal, and all classes, courses, products and events sold through them.
2. Definitions
- "Student" means the person enrolled in a class or course, whether enrolled by themselves or by a parent or guardian.
- "Portal" means the Aalaap student portal, including recorded lessons, notations, practice tools, quizzes and progress records.
- "Course" means any paid learning programme — offline batch, online batch, private class, or crash course.
- "Products" means physical goods sold by us, principally handmade bamboo bansuris, and software licences we are authorised to resell.
3. Eligibility, Accounts and Minors
You must be at least 18 years old to make a payment or enter into a contract with us. A student under 18 may enrol only through a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms on the student's behalf and is responsible for all fees and conduct.
Portal login details are personal to one student. You may not share, sell or transfer your login to anyone else. Accounts found in use by more than one person may be suspended without refund. Please tell us at once if you believe someone else has your password.
4. What We Provide
- Offline classes at our Sigra and Lanka branches, on the timetable applicable to your batch.
- Online group courses — live classes on a fixed schedule, plus recorded lessons, notations and practice tools in the portal.
- Private (one-to-one) classes at times agreed individually.
- Free webinars and demo sessions, which carry no fee and no obligation.
- Instruments and accessories, principally handmade bansuris, shipped within India.
- RiyazStudio software licences, as an authorised reseller. The software is made by a third party and is governed by that maker's own licence terms.
- Events and contests, such as competitions and recording sessions, on the terms announced for each event.
5. Enrolment and Fees
Fees for each course and plan are shown on the relevant page of this website at the time of purchase, in Indian Rupees. Fees shown are inclusive of applicable taxes, if any. We may revise our fees at any time, but a revision will not change the fee of a plan you have already paid for, for the term you have paid for.
Where a plan is sold for a fixed term (for example 90 days, 1 year or 3 years), the term begins on the date your portal access is activated, not on the date of your first class.
Portal validity. Access to the student portal — including recorded lessons, notations, practice tools, live-class links and quizzes — is available only for the duration of the plan you have paid for: for the term of that plan (for example 90 days, 1 year or 3 years), or, for classes paid month by month, for the months for which fees have been paid. When the plan ends, portal access ends with it, unless the plan is renewed. No plan carries lifetime access, and access does not continue beyond the end of the plan, unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
An enrolment is confirmed only when payment has been received and we have confirmed your batch or slot to you, normally on WhatsApp or by email.
6. Payments
Online payments on this website are processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited, a payment gateway regulated in India, and may also be accepted by UPI or bank transfer. Your card, UPI or net-banking credentials are handled entirely by the payment gateway and its partner banks. We never see or store them on our servers.
If a payment is debited from your account but the enrolment does not confirm, please contact us with the transaction reference. Failed or duplicate transactions are normally reversed by your bank within 5–7 working days; where the amount has reached us, we will refund it as set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
You confirm that the payment instrument you use belongs to you or that you are authorised to use it.
7. Classes, Attendance and Scheduling
Class timings, batches and teachers are allotted by the academy and may need to change from time to time. We will give reasonable notice of any change.
If you miss a live group (batch) class, the recording is made available in your portal. Private (one-to-one) classes do not carry recordings — a private class may be recorded for our internal quality and training purposes, but that recording is not provided to the student. Make-up classes are offered only where your plan expressly includes them, and are subject to teacher availability.
Private (one-to-one) classes are additionally subject to the following. Rescheduling must be requested at least 3 hours before the class; a class cancelled on shorter notice, or not attended, is counted as delivered. If the student does not join within 20 minutes of the scheduled start time, the teacher may end the class, and it is counted as delivered. All classes in a booking must be completed within 30 days of the booking date, after which any unused classes lapse and are not refundable or extendable. Please tell us at least 48 hours in advance of the timing you want for your next class, on WhatsApp at +91-7565050505. If your usual teacher is unavailable, the class may be taken by another teacher of the academy.
All class times published or communicated by us are in Indian Standard Time (IST, UTC+5:30), unless we state otherwise in writing. Students outside India should convert accordingly; a class missed because of a time-zone mistake is treated like any other missed class.
If a class cannot run because of a problem at our end — the teacher’s connection, or the platform we use — it is rescheduled at no cost to you. A problem with your own device, power supply or internet connection does not extend the class, your pack, or the 30-day validity.
Parent communication and meetings. Parents may have a five-minute Parent–Teacher Meeting (PTM) during the student’s scheduled class. After every five classes, parents may also speak with the Director, or with an available teacher or staff member, about the student’s progress. For any discussion about online or offline classes that requires a voice call, please first send a message through the Support page in the student portal and book an appointment; this lets us reach you with the right person, and with the student’s record in hand. Such calls may be recorded for quality and record-keeping purposes.
For a student under 18 attending an online class, we ask that a parent or guardian remains present or nearby, and that the class is taken in a common area of the home rather than behind a closed door. This protects the student and the teacher alike.
We may cancel a class on account of a festival, an emergency, illness, or circumstances beyond our control. A cancelled class will be rescheduled, or for a group class a recording may be provided instead; it is not treated as a class delivered. A cancelled private class is always rescheduled, never replaced by a recording.
Learning music depends greatly on your own regular practice. We provide instruction, materials and guidance; we do not guarantee any particular level of skill, examination result, competition placement or performance outcome.
8. Portal Content and Intellectual Property
All lesson recordings, notations, practice scores, audio, video, images, text, software and designs on this website and in the portal are owned by Aalaap Music Academy or used by us under licence, and are protected by Indian copyright and trademark law.
Your enrolment gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use this material for your own learning, for as long as your plan is active. You may not download, copy, record, screen-capture, re-upload, sell, share or publicly perform any portal content, nor use it to teach others, without our written permission.
Breach of this clause may lead to immediate suspension of access without refund, in addition to any legal remedy available to us.
9. Recording, Photographs and Student Work
Live group (batch) classes may be recorded, and the recording is shared with the students of that batch in the portal so that anyone who could not attend may watch it. Recordings remain our property; they may not be downloaded, re-shared or posted outside the portal.
Private (one-to-one) classes may also be recorded, but only for our internal quality and training purposes. Recordings of private classes are not provided or made available to the student.
If you would rather not appear in a group-class recording, you may keep your camera off; please tell your teacher before the class. Photographs and videos of classes, events and student performances may be used by us for teaching and promotional purposes, as explained in our Privacy Policy. If you would prefer a particular photograph or recording of you or your child not to be used, tell us and we will remove it.
Practice videos you upload to the portal are visible only as described in the portal at the time of upload. You confirm that anything you upload is your own work and does not infringe anyone else's rights.
10. Acceptable Use
- Treat teachers and fellow students with courtesy in class, on the portal and in any academy group.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the portal, its APIs, or any other student's records.
- Do not upload anything unlawful, abusive, obscene, or infringing someone else's copyright.
- Do not use the website or portal to advertise, solicit or run any other business.
11. Cancellation and Refunds
Cancellations, refunds, order shipping and delivery are governed by our Refund, Cancellation & Shipping Policy, which forms part of these terms. Please read it before you pay.
12. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to deliver our classes and products — for example video-conferencing for live classes, video hosting for recorded lessons, WhatsApp for communication, courier companies for shipping, and Razorpay for payments. Their availability is outside our control, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them.
RiyazStudio software is developed and licensed by its own publisher. We supply the licence as an authorised reseller; support for the software itself, and its licence terms, come from the publisher.
13. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or end your access to classes and the portal if fees are unpaid, if these terms are breached, or if conduct in class or online is abusive or disruptive. Where the fault is not yours, we will refund the unused part of your fee as set out in the Refund Policy. Where access is ended because of a breach by you, no refund is payable.
You may stop attending at any time; the effect of doing so on fees already paid is set out in the Refund Policy.
14. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
We take reasonable care to keep this website and the portal accurate and available, but we do not warrant that they will be uninterrupted or error-free. Content is provided for educational purposes.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with any course, product or service is limited to the amount you actually paid us for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of opportunity or of expected results.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including liability for fraud.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page, with the date shown above. Where a change materially affects students already enrolled, we will give notice by WhatsApp or email. Continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the revised terms.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
17. Grievance Redressal
If you have a complaint about our services, our website, or the handling of your information, please write to our Grievance Officer. We acknowledge every complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 working days.
